Step Up For Mental Health
First Aid Training
Thanks to funding provided by Cameco's "Step Up For Mental Health" initiative, NSILC is providing discounted virtual mental health first aid training for nonprofit workers and volunteers across Saskatchewan.
Who can register?
This training is open to employees and dedicated volunteers associated with nonprofits or registered charities located in Saskatchewan.
We're trying to reach as many groups as possible, and we're asking that each organization only register a maximum of 4 individuals. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org to add additional participants to a waitlist.
What is Mental Health First Aid Training?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) is the support provided to a person who may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis.
Course participants will learn how to recognize signs that a person may be experiencing a decline in their mental well-being or a mental health crisis and encourage that person to:
Talk about declines in their mental well-being
Discuss professional and other supports that could help with recovery to improved mental well-being
Reach out to these supports
Assist in a mental health or substance use crisis
Use MHFA actions to maintain one’s own mental well-being
The MHFA Standard (Virtual) 8-hour course opens with a self-directed module that focuses on the information and strategies that participants will discuss and practice throughout the virtual classroom modules.
Course participants are required to complete the self-directed module a minimum of 24 hours before the virtual classroom sessions. It takes approximately 2 hours to complete.
For a full course description please visit the MHFA website
How much does it cost?
Thanks to Cameco's sponsorship, we're able to offer this course at a discounted price of $35 per participant. Payment is required upon registration.
