Jumping into the Creative Minds Workshop Series was a challenging, yet exciting process that will only help more people in the future. The first Creative Minds Workshop focused on dealing with stress, whether work related or not, by creating a vision board.
During the first half an hour of the workshop, the participants learned about stress, the impact it has on our bodies, and what we can do to manage stress levels. Participants then filled out a few stress related worksheets to help them navigate their stress and coping mechanisms.
In the next couple of hours, using art therapy we de-stressed by creating vision boards. Participants were encouraged to think of a goal or word that represents a way to deal with stress (like relax, motivation, or willpower). Then, focusing on this they found images, words, phrases, art, and other symbols that they used to create their own vision boards.
Participants were sent home with their amazing vision boards and a small booklet. This booklet contained some information about stress, stress worksheets, and a couple of coping strategies to deal with stress (deep breathing and progressive muscle relaxation).
