Mental Health First Aid

For Nonprofit Workers

Funded by:

Program Overview: Cameco's "Step Up For Mental Health" initiative has provided NSILC with funding to provide affordable Mental Health First Aid - Basic Training to nonprofit workers and volunteers across Saskatchewan. In 2020 we will be hosting three training sessions in Saskatoon, two in Regina and one each in Estevan, La Ronge, Moose Jaw, North Battleford, Prince Albert and Yorkton.

The training: MHFA Basic is intended for adults interacting with adults (18 years and older). It is a nationally recognized course headed by the Mental Health Commission of Canada. Participants who actively take part in the course will become Mental Health First Aid certified.

This 2-day course focuses on the four most common mental health disorders including substance-related, mood-related, anxiety and trauma-related, and psychotic disorders. Participants who take this course are well prepared to interact confidently about mental health with their family, friends, communities, and workplaces. For full details on what is covered in this course please visit: https://www.mhfa.ca/en/course-type/basic

Who can register: This training is open to nonprofit workers and dedicated volunteers. To ensure this training reaches as many nonprofits as possible, only two participants per organization will be allowed to register for the course initially. Two weeks before the course date any remaining seats will be made available on a first-come-first-served basis. This means that organizations who have already registered two participants may have a chance to register additional participants.

Cost: The cost of registration is $35 per participant. Please note that coffee and light refreshments will be provided. However, any additional costs related to the training such as lunch, travel, parking fees or accommodations are not included.

How to Register: Please complete the registration form and e-mail it to info@nsilc.com. Once your registration has been accepted, you will be e-mailed a link and password to pay via Eventbrite. Registration is not complete until payment has been received.
