The Peer Support Core Program provides opportunities to persons with disabilities to share information, ideas and experiences with others. The goal of the NSILC Peer Support Core Program is to further promote “Independent Living” through peer interaction.
It is through these sharing opportunities that Persons with Disabilities gain a sense of confidence and esteem, which is needed when overcoming the barriers within the community.
Basic life skills, such as self-direction, assertiveness, and healthy relationships form the basis of independence. Often these characteristics need to be learned or strengthened for independence to be fully realized.
In recognition of the importance of peer support programming, NSILC offers the following programs:
* Dog Guide Handlers Peer Support Group
* Events & Gatherings
For more information on any of the above groups, please contact our Peer Support Facilitator by phone at 665-5508 or by Email
